One day, he saw the princess's maid buying perfume for Ratnavati. Singhia decided to use this opportunity to bewitch the perfume, making the princess fall in love with him upon smelling it. However, the princess was not oblivious to the sorcerer's intentions and suspected his evil plan.
Ratnavati outsmarted Singhia and, instead of using the bewitched perfume, she threw it onto a large boulder. As the perfume touched the boulder, it started rolling down the hill towards Singhia, crushing him to death. Before dying, the sorcerer cursed the entire fort and its inhabitants, prophesying doom and declaring that the fort would be abandoned and remain in ruins forever.
Legend has it that soon after Singhia's death, Bhangarh Fort faced a tragic fate. A massive battle ensued between the princess's forces and the sorcerer's followers, leading to the death of many people, including Princess Ratnavati. The curse seemed to have taken effect, and Bhangarh Fort fell into ruin and was abandoned.
Today, Bhangarh Fort is considered one of the most haunted places in India. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has restricted entry to the fort premises during the night to prevent people from entering and facing any potential paranormal encounters.
