Also known as Ajmer fort, Akbari Quila, or Akbar’s palace. Situated in Heart of the city Ajmer at Naya Bazar, Ajmer, Rajasthan. It was the residence of Prince Jahangir (Salim), the son of Emperor Akbar,
There are two reasons behind the construction of this Akbari fort, One is for accommodation when Akbar visits the city, & the second is for outbalancing his army back in 1570. Akbar often came to Ajmer for visiting the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
People said in the history when Akbar’s rule started in back 1556 AD, he defeated Hemu in the second battle of Panipat. At that moment, Akbar was only 13 years old. at that time with the help of Bairam Khan, a fort is built in 1570 in Ajmer. This is the place where the Jahangir (Salim) gives permission to Thomas Roe to sitting up the East India Company which changes the history of India.
In 1908, a portion of the fort was declared as a museum. Inside that, there is a collection of Paintings, armor, and sculpture of Mughal and Rajput.
